Thank you all for your support of the club in 2025. What a fantastic year it was. A special thank you to all of our incredible volunteers who gave up their time – we could not have done it without you!

We are excited to announce that registrations are open for the 2026 season and we can’t wait to see you all again!

2026 REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

FIRST TIME CAMBERWELL SHARKS PLAYERS receive a FREE Boots Bag and socks with registration!

We have created links for you to register into your exact age group based on year of birth below, please hit the correct link.

Just a few quick points about registration:

  • If you or any player you know would like to transfer to our club, please ask them to complete the following form: CJFC Transfer Form.
  • The YJFL uses an operations system called PlayHQ. If you have used PlayHQ before for basketball or cricket you should be able to log in using the same username and password.
  • We are proud to again host two Community Rounds supporting BCNA and FightMND. Community Round socks are conveniently available to purchase during checkout, and we highly recommend purchasing them as part of your registration to help us plan for these important events.
  • U14 Boys: Spots are limited! Please register as soon as possible, as once the team is full we’ll be operating from a waitlist.
  • New players from other clubs, anywhere in Australia, including other YJFL teams, will need to wait until the 1st February 2026 to register with us as the national transfer window only opens then.
  • There is an option to donate $20 per player to the CJFC Development Fund, which enables us to subsidise and deliver activities and programs for our players (outside of core football operations). This is an optional contribution so please do not feel obliged to contribute.
  • You may notice a difference in how fees are allocated across players U8-10 and U11+. That is because our club incurs the cost of umpiring for U8-U10 and the YJFL carries the cost for U11+.

COME AND TRY SESSIONS:
We’re excited to invite all existing and new players to our ‘Come and Try’ sessions on Monday evenings at Lynden Park which have now kicked off and will run until the 8th of December. These sessions are a fantastic way to get on the field, experience what it’s like to be part of the Sharks, meet our friendly coaches and players, and have some fun with a bit of footy action. If you are interested, please sign up via this link.

TRANSFERS:
If you are transferring from another club (anywhere in Australia), please complete the following form: CJFC Transfer Form so that we can reserve you a spot. Registrations for transfers are open until November 30th, and then will close for December & Janurary. They will then reopen on 1st February 2026. We welcome any player interested in joining the Sharks in 2026 to complete this form.

HARDSHIP:
We understand that the last couple of years have affected our members differently, some more than others. Camberwell Sharks has always, and will continue to, put our Sharks community first. If you require support, please email [email protected].

EXEMPTIONS TO PLAY DOWN:
All players must register to their correct age group. Should you wish to have your child considered to play down from their age group, please follow the below steps after registering.

Where a player has a physical or intellectual disability or has physical size and/or development issues, and a medical physician certifies the player is unable to play in his correct age group, a club may apply to the League for approval for that player to play in a lower age group, using the official form. Such approval shall be at the discretion of the League and shall be for one season only. Please contact us at [email protected] once the registration to their correct age group has been completed for assistance with submitting a request to play down.

FAQs

How much are Registration Fees?

Returning Players: $406
All New Players: $446

Sibling Discount of 6% applies automatically to all siblings if they are registered together.

If you have any questions regarding the fees, please email [email protected]

Is there a Registration Day where we can come down to the club and register there?

No, all registrations must go through PlayHQ. Keep your eyes peeled for information on our 2026 Family & Merchandise Day though!

.

My child is of age group U10s by birth, but their best friends are a bit younger and are playing U9s, can he/she play down an age level in U9s?

No. Players are not permitted to play down an age level in any grade. Occasionally an exemption may be granted upon application to the YJFL on medical grounds, supported by doctor’s advice and a medical certificate.

My son will be U13 in the upcoming season and I would like some guidance on which team development option to select?

If you are looking for guidance on this question you should discuss with your previous season coach or contact the Club Football Director at [email protected].

As a guide, players wanting to be considered for the team in the highest grade, should see football as their priority sport in winter, be available for all training and matches in the season, appreciate that the focus of training is about match situation development, not be concerned whether their team mates are from their current friendship cohort and also be prepared to play a varied number of positions throughout the season.

My son is in the U13 age group and I would like to understand more about the grading process in this age group.

We have had a successful grading policy that has been in operation for many years. This policy can be found at  https://camberwellsharks.com.au/policies/

My child would like to play up an age group. Is that possible?

For girls, the YJFL allows players to play up to two (2) age groups above their nominal age group where it is deemed appropriate by the relevant stakeholders of the club.  If you are interested in this option, you should address your request to [email protected].

For boys, all players must play in their correct age group, unless playing down due to a medical condition (this is subject to approval).

Please note, all players must be registered into their correct age group prior to submitting a request to play up.

How do I make sure my child is in a team with all his / her friends from school?

At registration you can nominate up to three friends that your child would like to be in a team with.  The club will guarantee they are grouped with at least one of those friends. If no names are listed we will randomly allocate that player into a team. This is for all returning and new players.

If for family and logistical reasons there are specific families that should be grouped together (limited to 3 families), please contact [email protected] for us to consider your request.

Are there any modified rules for the younger age groups or girls football?

Yes. There will be reduced numbers of players on the field for U8s (12 player on field) and U9s (15 players). Oval sizes will be smaller. There is no scoring, ladder or finals for these age groups.

Girls football differs slightly to the boys also.  For more information on Female Football and rules associated, please follow this link to the YJFL page.

Is tackling involved?

There is no tackling in U8s.

For U9s and U10s the following ‘Modified Tackle’ rule applies:

Modified Tackle – A player in possession of the ball may be tackled by an opponent wrapping both arms around the area below the top of the shoulders and on/above the knees. The tackle may be from either side or from behind, providing the tackle from behind does not thrust forward player with the ball (i.e. push the player in the back). Bumping is not allowed.

For U11s and up full tackling is permitted.

Girls football differs slightly to the boys.  For more information on Female Football and rules associated, please follow this link to the YJFL page.

When will pre-season training start?

Information for the 2026 Pre Season will be released after the Christmas break.

What day will training be?

Most teams train once a week between Tuesday and Thursday at Lynden Park. Football Operations will allocate grounds and times according to the team’s coach’s request and availability. Exact details for your team will probably not be bedded down until some point in March.

These will be announced via your Team Manager and will be found on our website once locked in.

What day/time will matches be in the regular season?

The YJFL competition is played on Sundays with matches commencing between 8.45am and 3.00pm. The younger grades play earlier in the day, older grades later. U8s might expect the majority of their games to commence at 8.45am, but may get the odd game starting at 10.00am or even as late as 11.00am on occasions.

How will I get uniform items?

Mouthguards and merchandise information will come and will be advertised on our website and social media closer to the season.

Playing jumpers and headgear are provided by the club.

All new registrations receive a boots bag and socks.

My child has decided football is just not for them, do you have a Refund Policy?

Yes we do have a refund policy.

Due to the logistics around team structure including player numbers and coaching numbers, our refund policy is set that if you withdraw your child prior to 1st March, we will refund you the Club Levy less a $20 administration fee per child. Unfortunately, there will be no refunds for withdrawals after this date.

As you will be aware there is a Yarra Junior Football Club League Fee that is part of your child’s registration fee. This payment is separate to Camberwell Sharks and as a result the refund must be raised directly with the YJFL – [email protected]

.

How do I transfer from another club?

If you would like to join the Camberwell Sharks Junior Football Club from another club, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible.

It’s that easy !!!
