What a wonderful privilege our Under 14 Girls and Under 15 Boys had to be invited to represent Camberwell Sharks at the East Malvern RSL ANZAC Day Dawn Service.
The atmosphere at 6am was incredible, such heartfelt prayers, poems and tributes were shared which reminded everyone the importance of this very special day. Congratulations to Ed Chard who was honoured when asked to represent Sharks and do a reading during the ceremony.
It was particularly moving to see the ex-servicemen individually acknowledge and handshake each player prior to play, something they will always remember. Such a wonderful community event which bring players, clubs, families and brave and courageous ex-servicemen together to celebrate those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
The girls and boys sportsmanship and energy on and off the field was fantastic, you represented your club extremely well. A huge thank you to our umpires, Will Sandy and Will Curtin and Stu Chard for coordinating the boys. Thanks also to the parents who were assigned a duty throughout the day and also the families and friends who came along to support the teams.
Congratulations to Nick Kelly who won the John Yorsten Medal for best player along with two other boys from different clubs.
Thank you to the East Malvern JFC, Ashy Redbacks, Glen Iris JFC and Prahran JFC for being a part of the event and last, but certainly not least – a MASSIVE thank you to East Malvern RSL for hosting another very successful Anzac Day it is always an honour to see the Sharks players and families attend your event!
