Well done to former Shark, Darcy Byrne-Jones, who made an eye-catching AFL debut for Port Adelaide against Essendon in Round 3.
The No.33 had 14 possessions at 93% disposal efficiency (that’s really, really good!) playing in the backline for a Port side that accounted easily for Essendon in a 10 goal victory at Adelaide Oval.
Darcy was selected at pick 52 by Port in the 2013 draft with a view to him becoming a medium-sized defender once he developed his body over a few seasons. In his 2015 SANFL season Darcy showed himself to be a courageous defender who attacks the ball and the opposition relentlessly and following strong pre-season form in the NAB cup this year, Darcy got his chance at senior level against the ‘Dons.
