Some of our Under 10 Girls team got to meet their role models at the Hawks VFLW game against Essendon at Box Hill City Oval on the weekend. And they loved it!!
Having met a few of the Hawks VFLW team at Shark Park a couple of weeks ago, we thought we might head to their home ground and show our support too!
The girls had a great time – hanging out with injured Hawks girls as they watch their team take on Essendon with a convincing win.
HAWTHORN 2.1 3.2 3.9 5.11 (45)
ESSENDON 1.0 1.6 1.1 2.1 (12)
It was great watching our Under 10 Girls confidently run up to some of the players they had only met a couple of weeks ago! Not to mention how great it was watching their faces light up as they watched their role models in action, finding players who kick left footed like one of our own, seeing who the VFLW player was that wore the same numbered Guernsey! The girls got to line up as the Hawks ran on to the field, stand on the oval and listen at quarter and three quarter time, meet Hawka 1 and Hawka 2. But the highlight was leading the girls back into the change rooms after the match to belt out the Hawks Theme song! Check out this link from Hawks.
One of the Hawks VFLW stars said how she loved the interaction with the young girls, “We can be the role models that we never had growing up and loving footy!” The Hawks VFLW girls were so engaged, it was fabulous!
Thank you to Alexandra Nanni for helping organise and Dana De Bondt who made a huge effort with the girls on the day. Its experiences like these that young girls just don’t forget! Thank you!
